
Functional Skills Maths Tutor
The Opportunity:

You will be able to work from home or, if you are local you are welcome to work from the office. We will consider either employed or self employed.

You will teach, guide, support, assess and review individuals on Functional Skills English programmes as part of apprenticeship delivery
-
You will deliver workshop activity to apprentices on functional skills programme through virtual, planned themed workshops, enabling learners to gain knowledge and skills to successfully achieve a level 2 functional skills qualification

The post holder will coach and mentor a caseload of apprentices towards the successful achievement their programme
Duties and Responsibilities

Follow and abide by our Standards and Core Principals and assure at all times excellence in the experience, progress and outcomes for the apprentices and their employers
-
Facilitate Initial and Diagnostic assessments with apprentices and use results to create individual ILPs
-
Use diagnostic assessments to assess levels of competency within Maths and English and determine individual learning journeys

Regularly assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust the ILPs when necessary
-
Working closely with the Associate Director for Compliance and Lead IQA, to design, develop and deliver an a themed workshop programme based on diagnostic outcomes, as well as individual programmes of training and assessment to ensure successful completion of the apprentice’s individual learning plan within the planned duration

As a trainer/coach you will be managing a case load of apprentices on our apprenticeship programme. You will be supporting them through to successful completion of their programme by providing guidance and support to achieve maths and/or English functional skills

Produce and deliver appropriate individual and group exercises in order to achieve the Individual Training Plans

Use learning resources and other support materials and map progress against each learning aim on company IT systems

Identify and support apprentices with additional learning needs, and take an active role in identifying individual learner support needs and implementing effective strategies to support learner success

Work with coordination teams to ensure all learners are registered with the awarding body

Support delivery of apprenticeships through a range of methods including workshop, 1:1 support and planned revision and assessment activity

Carry out regular teaching, assessment visits and monitoring for each apprentice

Regularly plan, assess, set and monitor appropriate targets, identify and address areas of weakness to ensure achievement

Prepare apprentices for functional skills, English and mathematics exams and liaise with the coordination team to plan external examination requirements

Maintain regular contact with apprentices and their employers to demonstrate formal progress and planning of progression

Maintain effective and up-to-date tracking systems to ensure apprentice’s progress is monitored and any obstacles to achievement are effectively and promptly dealt with

Provide information, advice and guidance to delivery teams in supporting and being able to develop maths and English for those learners who do not require maths and English

Keep up to date with functional skills developments

Complete OSCAR training with Pearson and maintain competency and currency

Support Lead IQA with SV visits

Meet all KPI targets and commitments contributing to the overall success of the business

Undertake additional projects and activities to meet the needs of the Delivery team and apprentices as required

To assist in ad-hoc projects relating to Apprenticeship delivery and wider organisational requirements or projects

Comply with and complete all relevant paperwork as required

Comply with statutory and company policies and procedures

Abide by Ofsted, ESFA and awarding body regulations at all times

Attend team meetings and standardisation meetings
-
Keep up to date with changes to national standards
-
Work towards further professional qualifications to enhance skills and knowledge.

Organise and maintain a CPD file, ensuring current occupation competence is up to date and recorded
